FSP

Originally a pharmaceutical manufacturing building, producing surgical instruments and operating tables for Barts Hospital, Allen & Hanbury’s ‘Pill Box’ is a fantastic heritage building.

The site was bombed twice historically and since that point had significantly deteriorated.
Workspace appointed FSP to transform the derelict building, transforming it into impressive modern studios whilst maintaining many of the original historical features.

The centre has been completely refurbished and reconfigured and a new 5th floor extension provides an additional 848.1sqm of B1 space.

The plans were careful to retain the essential character of the building, by exposing its structural detail and keeping many of its original features intact. Throughout you'll find exposed brick and concrete columns, original timber and lab tile flooring.  The new 5th floor new extension takes on this language with exposed steel structure and raw concrete pre cast planks soffit.  As well as proving a robust aesthetic the exposed concrete also provides high thermal mass to keep the internal temperatures constant without the need for mechanical ventilation.

The new reception, akin to a modern apothecary provides a main focus to the centre and combines Club Workspace and a new reception with an award winning café.

Now completed, the centre is a once again an employment hub in the area, a landmark destination for 120 new and growing businesses.
